How both were still in the high school classes together is either an oversight while writing the show or Dan had to repeat multiple years of school. Chris’ age can only be estimated by assuming the time the episodes first aired is correspondent to the time in the real world. According to Dan’s drivers license, which lists his birthday on October 31th, 1975, he is 38 at the time this particular episode aired ([[S3E7]]), which was in 2013.
